Well hello there!
Welcome to The Daisybutter Book Café – an offshoot of my long-standing lifestyle blog, Daisybutter. In the words of my beloved Taylor Swift, it’s been a long time coming. I’ve considered setting up a Substack ever since my online friends Moog and Nicole did the same. Theirs are incredible, by the way.
So, what is this place?
The Daisybutter Book Café is a personal writing… project? Zone? Nook? Let’s call it a nook. I envisioned this space to be a virtual, bookish café nook, a new writing project where everyday musings, personal essays and other notes will live.
Who am I?
That’s one secret I’ll never tell. Well, obviously I am a huge Swiftie and Gossip Girl fan!
I’m Michelle, a 32-year-old professional writer and editor. Bookworm and eternal optimist. Pisces sun and Libra moon. Hopeless romantic and, above all, a friend. Back in 2009, I started a blog, Daisybutter, from my student accommodation at university and the rest is history. Nearly. I penned posts about everything from my everyday style to growing pains in my twenties, travel guides to how it feels to be an East Asian woman living in the UK. I’m so proud of what I’ve created over 14 years.
Daisybutter is still alive and kicking now, but the blogging landscape has changed a lot and it no longer feels like the right place for my more personal essays to live. So, here we are.
Like the sound of all of this?

I'm so excited you created a Substack! I can't wait to read all your posts!
So glad to see you around here!
